Tehais.ing Ramblings of a mad man

Google Chrome and everyone else

It’s been a busy week for the browser industry. Mozilla released ubiquity and promised to speed up javascript compilation by a zillion times, only to realized that Google Chrome is going to be the talk-of-the-town with it’s accidental comic illustration leak.

Google Chrome has many interesting features. Some looked very familiar. Speed dial, Full History Search, Quick find, Tabs on top (Chrome’s Omnibox) and Breaking Tab (by dragging into a new window). Google is definitely borrowing some very great features. Of course, the idea of making each tab(page) a separate thread looks very appealing, this will essentially make each tab a mini application, and when each tab is closed, the garbage collection is done on the page, and thus freeing up space and processing.

Regardless of how great(or bad) Chrome is going to be, with a name that is synonymous to the Internet (It is when a friend’s dad called the whole Internet Google), it will certainly generate alot of buzz.
